INTRODUCTION

Cultural days are organized annually at Machakos Institute of Technology and are one of the celebrated events in the school calendar where all the schools diversity and different tribes are celebrated in food, culture, traditional attire. The event involves students and staff and serves to nurture the different talents that the students possess. It also serves as an avenue of show casing the different projects by the Technical departments. In this year, we held our cultural day on 24/6/2022 at the Machakos Social Hall. The theme of the day was ‘nurturing and celebrating talent diversity’.

 The cultural day was planned by a committee under the leadership of Dean of Students. The members met numerous times to deliberate on the different activities that would take place as well the general organization of the event. The members had come up with up duties to be performed by all the staff members during that event. The trainers performed their duties well.

The committee also came up with a list of sub events that the students would compete in. The sub events included; Modelling, Showcasing of different projects, Dj competition, and Mc competition as well as eating competition. The students were able to showcase their talent which was the main aim of the whole Event. The event also served the purpose of giving a platform to the students to interact with students from other departments

The cultural was also a success because of the role the judge’s played. The committee had trained them on how to conduct themselves during the event. We also assigned the participants number tags as opposed to name tags. This would ensure fairness in the judging

We also had hired the services of Musical systems and Dj equipment’s from Dj spannes. He did a very commendable job during the event. He assisted in judging the Dj competition simply because that area was his forte

The main guest for the event was our Director; Benjamin Mutie. He graced the vent and thanked the students because He had witnessed the fruits of His investments. He encouraged the students to participate in events that will enhance their talents. He also encouraged all the students to continue taking their studies seriously. The Principal also encouraged the students to combine their studies with extra-curricular activities so that they can realize their full potential. The principal was very excited about the whole event progress and discipline of the student during the vent. All the participants were provided with free drinks and meals during the event. The food was enough and all the students and staff were very satisfied with the school provision

The institution had also set some rewards for the winners. The chief guest awarded the different winners and also commended them for their presentation. He encouraged them to pursue their dreams. We will also award Mr. and Miss MIT with certificates during the annual graduation slated to take place in the month of October. The overall winners were Tabitha Mutia and Samson Muli.  CONCLUSION

I would like to thank the director for his continued support especially in harnessing the full potential of the students. The success of the event was courtesy of the Director who provided us with the required resources that were required. The students through the student union expressed their satisfaction as far as the events were concerned. It was an opportunity for the students to relax ahead of July 2022 KNEC exams
